Basic Korean Phrases
Chah Ryut (cha-ree-ut) = Attention
Gyung Nyeah (gyung yay) = Bow
Ba-Ro (bah-ro) = At ease
Every time you bow the class Senior will announce,
chah ryut (you come to attention),
gyung nyeah (you bow), ba-ro (you return to at ease).
Dojang = The Studio Dobok = Uniform Kiyap = Yell

Counting in Korean
Many exercises done in class are counted in Korean.
Beginning students should learn to count, in Korean,
from one to ten.

Basic Rules of The Dojang
• Always Show Respect for Others
• Keep your uniform clean and in good condition
• Say, "Hapki" and bow when entering and exiting the Dojang
• Address all Black Belts as, "Sir" or "Ma'am"
• Bow when stepping on or off the mat
• No shoes or drink on the mat
• Do not talk during class
• If you arrive late go to the back of the class unless instructed otherwise
• Bow to each other and shake hands after each class
• Leave the mat after class so the next class can start on time
• Please leave your problems and stress outside when you enter the Dojang
Sparring Equipment
Safety First
Students must wear: Gloves, mouthguard, headgear, chest protector, and shin guards. Men must wear groin protection.
All of these items can be purchased at the Dojang.
