​Basic Korean Phrases
Chah Ryut ​(cha-ree-ut) = Attention
​Gyung Nyeah (gyung yay) = Bow
Ba-Ro (bah-ro) = At ease
Every time you bow the class Senior will announce, 
chah ryut (you come to attention), 
​gyung nyeah (you bow), ba-ro (you return to at ease).


​Dojang = The Studio     Dobok = Uniform     Kiyap = Yell

Counting in Korean
Many exercises done in class are counted in Korean.
Beginning students should learn to count, in Korean, 
from one to ten.
 1.   Hana
 2.   Dool
 3.   Set
 4.   Net
 5.   Da-sut
 6.   Ya-sut
 7.   Il-gope
 8.   Yu-dul
 9.   A-hop
10.  Yul


Basic Rules of The Dojang
 

• Always Show Respect for Others
• Keep your uniform clean and in good condition
​• Say, "Hapki" and bow when entering and exiting the Dojang
• Address all Black Belts as, "Sir" or "Ma'am"
• Bow when stepping on or off the mat
• No shoes or drink on the mat
• Do not talk during class
​• If you arrive late go to the back of the class unless instructed otherwise
• Bow to each other and shake hands after each class
• Leave the mat after class so the next class can start on time
• Please leave your problems and stress outside when you enter the Dojang



Sparring Equipment

Safety First
Students must wear: Gloves, mouthguard, headgear, chest protector, and shin guards. Men must wear groin protection.

​All of these items can be purchased at the Dojang.

Belt Progression – Testing is Quarterly

  Grandmaster Song is always addressed as,     
  Grandmaster  or  Kooksa-Nim.

  When answering questions questions from    
  Grandmaster Song it is always, "Yes, sir" or "No,  
​  sir."


  Grandmaster Song's vision for his studio is a  
  supportive, family friendly environment.
  Students should work hard and have fun. His  
  door is always open to students and parents if  
  they have any questions or problems.
